Sisters with desk jobs - Did you take more than six weeks off?

If you answer the phone a lot you might consider getting a cordless headset at Radio Shack. This might allow you to get up and walk around your desk a bit while continuing to work. Your employer couldn't get upset if you got up from your desk if you still continue to work right? I know that getting up and changing positions helps a lot. This might help.

Sisters with desk jobs - Did you take more than six weeks off?

I am at 10 weeks (yesterday) and I have been working from home for the past 1 1/2 weeks....
If you think you need the additional time off, then take it. I know some women return to work out of necessity (no sick leave, no benefits etc) and I am thankful that I have the employee benefits that allowed me 8 weeks off and the opportunity to work from home.

You are the only one that can say if you are up to getting to work, working all day, and then getting home from work. Is there a possibility that you can work part time until you are feeling better? Talk to your employer and see if you can work something out.

Sisters with desk jobs - Did you take more than six weeks off?

I came back to work at around 5 weeks but I was working from home in the second week. My office would bring work to me.

I think 8 weeks would be justified for sure since you have to sit so long. I went back 5 1/2 weeks but I definitely have more time up and down at desk in office....It still took me like 3 more weeks to feel like I could do better on the job. It was nice to go back but it WAS hard to get back in the swing of things. Your job sounds hard and I wouldnt rush it if you can hold off and keep resting you will really be glad you did : )

Thanks for your advice and support, ladies. Not sure what I'm going to do yet - may go back part time after six weeks, may take the eight weeks. I'll let you know Monday after I see the doc. Thanks again!

Sisters with desk jobs - Did you take more than six weeks off?

I had 7 weeks off and even then I only did 3 days a week for the first 4 weeks just to get back into it.

I too have a desk job. I felt much better breaking myself back in gently.

Listen to your body. If you feel up to it then go for it but beware that you WILL tire easily during the day. Maybe you could just do a few days or work shorter hours for a while if you have an understanding employer?

Take care
