Went to the doc today to schedule hyst
Hi sisters! I got my surgery date for february 22, exactly two weeks after my birthday. This is my second date from 2 years ago, so my doc was a little reluctant to give it to me until he saw how much pain i was in after they gave me my surprise annual pap, pelvic exam, which included a biopsy, but not like my previous ones. They did a biopsy from my uterus & cervix this time because of the excruciating pain and bleeding that began one week after I finished my regular seven day cycle which have not stopped yet. I was in so much pain that I could'nt leave the hospital until 2 hours later, that is until the pain med that they had to order for me to take began to work. I lost so much blood for these past two weeks that they want me to come back to take blood test to see if I need transfusions. I've spent 2 long suffering years because I was terrified of the surgery, but after going through what I've been through these past two weeks, and today nothing can change my mind anymore!, And by the way my uterus has grown to 16 week pregnancy size, and she said " you have a very angry fibroid thats right behind your bladder thats causing all this pain and bleeding". :burning:

Congratulations on setting the date. I was a little scared to have my surgery, but I know that this is one of the most commonly performed surgeries around, and I would be in good hands. My symptoms were not as extreme as yours, but I think I still ended up waiting longer than I needed to, and I am SO happy with my results! Best of luck to you.

Just think - in our mothers/grandmother's time they just had to deal with it.. now we have choices.
With a date you know there will be an end to all of that.

Peaches -
I had a fibroid located against my bladder. Periods and that fibroid resulted in being very terrified of being out in public and sneezing. Only once had an accident and it was mortifying! At my surgery, they found the fibroid had adhered 'minimally' to my bladder. I suspect that adhesion (however minor) was siginificantly contributing to my pain level.
I was in so much pain and bloating before my surgery, once I got through the 1st 3 days, I found I felt less pain (but very fatigued) than I had pre-op. If your really nervous about pain, try to do like I did and look at 5 days out. You won't believe it the 2nd morning, but the pain fades fairly quickly.
Since you have had biopsy's. I remember the first one I had of those, I was in pain for 2 days. I would gauge my discomfort from that the 1st day as about where my pain levels were at day 5 Post-Op here.
