Surgery complications from scar tissue

I had my pre-op appointment last Friday. My doctor finally explained to me that my left ovary is embedded in scar tissue, which also wraps around the ureter. I am scheduled for an RALH; however, if she can't dissect the ovary without injuring the ureter, she will call in a urologist to do that part, which would require doing an abdominal incision. In the event the ureter is injured during the procedure, the urologist would do something to rebuild the tube, and I would have a longer hospital stay and the catheter for "awhile," whatever that means. She also revealed that I have a few fibroids, which I was not made aware of after my laparoscopy back in December.

So, I'm a little nervous but still looking forward to having the surgery and hopeful that I will feel better.

I'm curious if anyone else has had the same complication and what the outcome was.

Thanks ladies.

Re: Surgery complications from scar tissue

There are many members around here who go into surgery knowing they have some scar tissue so you aren't alone. I hope everything goes smoothly and better than you expect. Hang in there!
