good, unexpected, horrific, now wait
I thought I would share my experience. I can't say it has been good or bad but I will let you decide.
Good:
My surgery of TAH BSO with staging went extremely well. I had surgery on Wed. March 30th and came home on Friday April 1.
Unexpected:
I then heard from the Dr. about my pathology in which everything was great except they found a spot on my right ovary that was not expected since all the staging was clear.
Horrific:
I went to the Dr's office to have the stalpes removed and when I sat up the the incision started opening and tissue started coming out. So I ended up having a nice ride to the emergency room for immediate surgery. I only got out of the hospital on Thursday.
Now Wait:
The second opinion pathology reports came back and they did state the cancer is in the Uterus (expected) and on the ovary (unexpected). So now off we go to the Oncologist who has some reason to believe that this could be 2 separate cancers growing at the same time. If so then he said have a nice life. If he determines that it is a metasis then he wants to do 25 radiation treatments and 4 chemo treatments. So now I have to wait until they get this all figured out.

I know you are probably really scared right now, and I just wanted to let you know that I'm thinking about you and hoping for the best. Waiting for results can be excruciating, and I'll keep you in my thoughts. Let us know what you find out.

Dear 2ndtimearound,
Bless your heart. You are being so brave. I'm sorry you're facing so many things all at once here. I hope and pray your drs will have wisdom for your care and you will soon be finding the answers you need for the treatment of the cancer.
How is your incision doing now? I hope that is one thing that is doing better and you are healing up ok. You've had a lot to deal with in the last 2 weeks. I'm glad you came and shared with us.
We are here for you. Let us know if we can help or encourage in anyway.
's, Rita

Dear 2ndTimeAround,
I will be thinking of you and ray: for a good outcome for you.
While I can't say I know how you feel, I can relate to the stress of the waiting for reports & tests. My dh has been battling 2 separate (both rare) forms of cancer for a couple years now.
The waiting is awful, I know.
Please keep us posted about what's happening, ok?

I have asked myself so many times "why can't things go as planned?" My only consistent answer is &^%^ (insert appropriate 4 letter word) happens! and we just have to deal with it.
It sounds like you have a very good doc and oncologist - and they WILL figure this out - and how to give you back your life completely!
DH has done the radiation treatments - not fun but not really god-awful (he has an encapsulated tumor in the lymph area under his arm caused by Agent Orange).... the chemo is by no means pleasant but is a small price to pay for the rest of your life.
I know you are scared - and you have every right to be. And if you are very angry you have that right also. Use those for the positive - use them to make yourself better and to deal with what's to come. I know it isn't the same - but DH told me a long time ago that he never went into combat without being scared &^%*less - and that is what gave him the edge. Also that he would never want to go into combat with someone who wasn't - they will get you killed. Use being scared and angry to YOUR advantage - use the anger to motivate you to fight as hard as you can to beat this and the fear to do exactly what needs to be done.
