6 weeks post-op with nurse practioner/mid-wife?

When I scheduled my 6 weeks post-op, the appointment lady said the 6 weeks is done by a nurse practioner/mid wife. I made the appointment but the closer I get to it, I'm feeling uneasy about this. Anyone else see somebody else besides the surgeon or gyn?

My doc did my 6-week check-up, but all she did was look at my belly and internally to see how things have healed - I'd be confident that an NP could see that just as well (I wouldn't let one do the surgery, so......)

i would feel comfortable with my Doctor's NP, I have seen her in the past. She did an excellent job on my endometrial biopsy. She also spent a lot more time with me than most Doctors allow for.

On the other hand, if you are not comfortable with this, insist on seeing the Doctor. I think it is your right.

Oh and btw; I embraced my surgery and have breezed thru my recovery (knock on wood). I was ABSOLUTELY DREADING the six week exam because of the internal part. But....It was so easy....and it didn't hurt at all!

I was thinking she was more a mid-wife, I guess. I checked the web and she is indeed a nurse practioner. I also didn't know that nurse practioners could do endo biopsies. I guess I'm naive about what they can do. So thanks to both of you for the input and encouragement.
