After surgery, no desire for coffee
Okay gals, need your input on this. Had a TAH on July 8th...had coffee while in the hospital (I was always a a.m. coffee drinker...loved the stuff)...came home, 2nd day home I was extremely nauseous and the doctor called in a script...so very weird, I cannot stomach the thought of drinking coffee anymore....I make the pot for my husband...has anyone else developed an odd thing like this after surgery....I'm really not a nut case....I just think it is totally odd...anyone??? anyone????

Re: After surgery, no desire for coffee
You're not alone on this!
After my first surgery, I can no longer stomach bananas. I love bananas! Peanut butter and banana sandwiches are amazing. But now, after that, the texture is all wrong in my mouth. If I get the nerve to eat one, I have to take tiny tiny bites and even then, we're talking once a month thing here.
The second surgery I couldn't stand the smell of the food. I mean, nothing sounded good. I would try to eat a bit of this or that but I had to cover the tray as soon as I smelled anything. Luckily it's worn off.
I'm thinking it has something to do with the body "resetting". I mean, hormones are all out of whack (I've also experienced the "OMG everything STINKS" for a bit too) and the body is thinking "What the hey did you just do to me?!" so...
I love my coffee too. So I hope this passes for you

I was like that for the first week or so, then my taste buds got back to normal.

Re: After surgery, no desire for coffee
I am a starbucks addict and I was the same, it lasted about 4 weeks before I really felt like I was enjoying my coffee again! Same thing with chocolate and I still don't really touch it anymore lol!

Yep, same thing happened to me. Took a couple of weeks before I could drink it again. Had to have my husband remove the flowers that were sent too...couldn't stand the smell of them... weird stuff..

Re: After surgery, no desire for coffee
My body thinks it is pregnant since surgery as i am having all the cravings i get when pregnant. Eating yogurt which I dislike and not craving chocolate. Hope the chocolate thing stays with me. My lovely husband turned up the morning after surgery with my coffee not knowing they had woken me every hour and made me walk every two and those stupid compression socks itched all night!!!! I have never been so glad to see a coffee carrying husband in my life.
