Muscle Spasms 5 days post hysterectomy

I had my surgery on Tuesday (7/5), and I don't have tremendous pain but I do have this tightening feeling every now and then above and below the incision I'm guessing where my uterus was. After I get done doing something like the bathroom or walking I feel it. Anyone else experienced this? I still have my ovaries btw, just a few small cysts were removed.

Re: Muscle Spasms 5 days post hysterectomy

. I'm wondering if you're feeling what some of us call "phantom uterine cramps?" I'm guessing by your description it's not incredibly painful for you? Just a sort of letting you know it's there? When it happens to me, it feels like dull menstrual cramps. They feel like 1 or 1.5 on a scale of 0-10 (no pain to please hit me in the head with a brick so I don't have to feel this). I've noticed them later on days when I've done more, or on the day after for a while. I also tend to get swelly belly accompanying them. If it's not a severe or new pain*, you're probably fine. Just take extra rest periods when you're aware of them. (* If it is a severe or new pain, you should call your doc - they'll know what questions to ask and determine if you should come in.)

While I still get these crampy type feelings at 8 weeks out, they're less frequent than they were just 2-3 weeks ago. It does get better!
