High Sugar Levels - 6 mths post op

Almost exactly at the 6 month mark I too experienced high glucose levels. It got to 450 at one point after a meal. The doctors went crazy and had me on insulin and pills for a couple of months. Then they gradually came down, and now I'm not on anything. It was the weirdest thing. I'm at a normal range now. I am on a very strict diet and walk just about every day. The doctors can't figure out what happened. They did countless test on me testing my pancreas and such, but still no answer. I have read that physical stress such surgery or illness can increase your chance of diabetes. I hope you find the answers your are looking for. I encourage you to keep seeking answers, and get second and third opinions. Take care!

Hi Daisy

Many thanks for sharing your experience with me. It really helped. I will also try and control my diet and see if it brings my sugar level down.

Thanks

I had surgery in November '07. I tested 'diabetic' in Feb '08.

I'm also controlling it with diet.

I was at a 'high risk' for diabetes. Both my kids were over 9 pounds, but I wasn't seriously overweight, and I pretty much had a healthy diet.
