Questions for Doctor

Hey all

First let me say this site is great! I'm so happy I found it. I has helped to know there are people who know what you are going through and can support you.

My pre-op is in less than two weeks and I'm trying to get a list together of questions to ask my doc. I'm sure when I'm in his office my mind will go blank and I won't be able to think of a single one. Any suggestions for questions I should ask??

Here's some of the questions on my list (these are in addition to what can be found in the hystersisters link provided by p-1955_

Should I refrain from sex the night before surgery?
Will I have a catheter? For how long? Can I request that it be put in after I am asleep..Not before? Will I go home with the catheter?
What is the normal amount of blood loss during surgery?
Can I donate my own blood?
When can I start walking?
Will I be in the maternity section of the hospital after the surgery?
Can I have some anti-nausea medicine before surgery?
When can I start drinking water, juice or soda after?
Can I have real food for supper than night instead of liqdiet?
What do you recommend for post-op gas & constipation?
When can I have sex again?
Would having orgasms w/o intercourse harm me in any way? If not, when can I start having them?
How long before I can up and down stairs?
How often will I be seeing you after the surgery? weeks? weeks? weeks? months? year?
If I have difficulties after returning home..What problems constitute a phone call to you?
Can I have a copy of the pathology tests done on the organs you remove?
Shaving – will any need to be done, and/or should I do some myself before surgery?

I go in for pretesting tomorrow Am and trying to get all the questions down tonight-I guess I have been a Scarlett O'hara-(Didn't want to think about it until I have to)
