SAH Cyclical bleeding with ovaries and cervix after hysterectomy?

Hi ladies,
My surgeon said that since I kept my cervix I might still have light periods. The problem is I'm on coumadin because of a pulmonary embolism earlier this year (which was the final straw in my hysterectomy decision) and this, of course, causes bleeding problems.

I had no bleeding at all immediately post-surgery. But at exactly 5 weeks I started doing a little spotting, and have been since. I'm at 7 weeks, 2 days now. I had my 6-week checkup five days ago and the doctor said that he thinks this is normal for me. My periods were lasting two weeks prior to surgery.

How many of you who kept your cervix have mini-periods? What's your experience been?

Hi, I just wanted to give your post a bump up to the top again. I didn't keep my cervix so I can't comment but I think there's lots of women here who could help. Hopefully some of them will chime in.

I can tell you with coumadin i have seen post menopausal ladies start having periods. Usually its a sign the coumadin may need adjusted. I dont have a cervix, so cant comment on hiw much bleeding. But i work with people on coumadin all the time so thought i would throw that out there. Good luck!

I had absolutely no bleeding until about 3 months after surgery. I do have my cervix and had mini periods during months 3, 4, & 5. One month it seemed to last for weeks with cramps and migraines though minimal bleeding. I had migraines this month but thankfully no more period. Am hoping it's finished. Good luck to you.

I had to keep cervix. No bleed since day two of surgery. My surgeon said I should not bleed.
I'm nine weeks out tomorrow. I would ask for blood work. I know it's normal to spot.

9 weeks post-op, and the spotting has continued for 30 days now. If I don't use panty liners, I smell like something dead. Calling the doc today. My coumadin level was a bit low last week, so they've upped my dosage a teeny bit. So my blood is definitely not overly thin.
