insurance woes (UPDATED: Everythings straighted out (hopefully) )

So....my doctor's office called my insurance company today to schedule my surgery and the insurance co. told them that I was not covered b/c I was an 11 year old girl! I have had the same insurance for 16 years and they claimed they had no record of me/ my address/ my ss #...nothing! When I asked if they were telling me that I had no insurance the woman said, "no, of course you have insurance". I didn't see how that was possible since she claimed to have no record of me. I was mad!!!! cried. I am emotionally ready to finally get my LAVH. Hoping things get resolved b/c my visit to the castle is May 15th.

Re: insurance woes

Now really, does that make sense, even to them? Let's hope someone just entered a number wrong somewhere. No, an 11 year old is not asking for an LAVH! I think when they get the details straight it will work out. I'm hoping that happens immediately. Maybe your employer or insurance person can help establish who you are. I admit, I've heard of insurance snafus but this takes the cake for craziness.

Re: insurance woes

My husband's employer called the insurance company and said everything is taken care of now (hoping!!)....but additional craziness was that they said I was covered insurance-wise even though they claimed I didn't exist (and I have had the same insurance for 16 years and the same insurance # for about 10- they just give me a new card each year)...I am wondering how the 11 year old got a D and C and her endometriosis removal approved last year!!!!! what a headache added to my already stressed out being..........sorry to ramble here...if it all works out I may eventually find humor in the situation, but right now I just want to cry.

Oh brother! I hope that they get it all worked out quickly and easily and it doesn't interfere with your plans too much.

Re: insurance woes

Didn't they wonder how an 11 year old child was paying the Insurance payments?????

I love it when the companies do these stupid things. NOT.

They are so good at taking money every month but hate having to pay it out.

Hope you have it all sorted and have no other issues.

Re: insurance woes

Somebody did a major typo entering some information! I hope everything gets worked out quickly for you! Hang in there. Insurance can definitely be a hassle!

I had a diagnostic laparoscopy surgery done 2 weeks ago, and the hospital called 2 weeks before my surgery telling me that as a courtesy to the patient, they checked into my insurance and wanted to let me know that my portion of the bill was going to be $$$, and if I wanted to pre-pay, they would gladly accept my credit card number over the phone.... I said I was SURE they would, but I would rather be put on the billing option and pay AFTER the surgery was completed...

Re: insurance woes

I have to admit that the cost is a HUGE deal with me. I worry about paying for what the insurance company doesn't pay. Or that they will pull one of these stunts!! The last think you need at this time is to worry about the insurance....good luck!

Re: insurance woes

things are finally squared away- my husband workplace got involved and told the insurance co. I was not 11!!! Scheduled for May 12th. Hope all goes well with everyone else dealing with insurance companies- it can be extremely frustrating.

Re: insurance woes

The cost of what our portion will be was definitely one of my first fears. Especially after just having a diagnostic laparoscopy. When I found out that I needed another surgery, it really worried me. I am self employed and if I don't work, I don't get paid. My husband was so sweet and told me that it would all be ok. Thankfully there's a "cap" on what we owe, so it could be worse. After my first surgery, we will reach that "cap" very quickly!

Re: insurance woes

I'm self employed too, and I'm not sure how we'll get through the summer with me being otu of work for a month. We will definitely be behind the 8 ball but I'm sure it will work out. Hang in there!
