Hysterectomy & Arthritis (Ankylosing Spondylitis)

I am going to have a Hyster, (this is my first post, so I don't know lingo) on March 8. My spline is completely fused and I have tendonitis in my hips.
I read somewhere on this site that using a neck pillow or support is helpful if a person is to be intebated. I was wondering what else might be helpful. Anyone with severe back pain can answer.

Maggienile, I really feel for you. I don't have serious back problems, but the worst back pain I've ever experienced was after my hysterectomy. Many other women have complained of severe back pain and sometimes hip dislocations, after a hysterectomy.

Please, be very sure that everyone who will be involved with your surgery knows about your medical problem. Insist upon seeing a drawing or photograph of the position which your doctor plans to have you in, during your surgery.

If necessary, I'd insist on having an orthopedic surgeon involved in choosing that position, and in specifying the padding which will be necessary for a person with your medical condition.
