Severe heaviness in abdomen 8 days post hysterectomy

I am about a week out and after having the open abdominal bikini line incision the pain itself is gone. However the heaviness is not letting up and I have to walk hunched over. I am not over exerting myself as I have family here doing all the work.
Just looking for any input on this heaviness and lack of ceasing!
Thanks girls.

Re: Severe heaviness in abdomen 8 days post hysterectomy

Hi, I am 3 weeks post op and have experienced the same heaviness feeling. However I wouldn't say mine was "severe"..you may want to call the doctors office and ask them about it. Anyway I just purchased an abdominal support binder yesterday and had immediate relief. I also ordered a pair of the high waisted post op panties that are sold on this site. Hope this helps ...good luck..

Re: Severe heaviness in abdomen 8 days post hysterectomy

This feeling was my "normal" for a few weeks. When I wanted to be up and about I used the binder they put on at the hospital. It made a world of difference.

You are still very early in recovery and there's a lot going on inside - healing, inflamation, swelling, etc... It takes a toll on your body. In another week or two you'll see some big improvements.
