Probably stupid question about vaginal packing

This is probably a stupid question, but do you remember them taking out the vaginal packing? I remember my doctor in the recovery room telling me I had vaginal packing in, but I don't remember them ever removing it when I got back to my room before they discharged me. Then to make matters worse (I am 11 days post-op) when I went to the bathroom first thing this morning to urinate, I had a major burning sensation at the end of my stream. Then tonight I had incontinence while I was walking out to the car from my son's baseball game. When I got home I checked and it was blood tinged urine. Now the really weird part - there was a string of gauze on the toilet paper when I wiped. Am I just being neurotic or what? Please help!!.

Probably stupid question about vaginal packing

did you have any repairs? If not I would probably reach in a little just to check if it is there. I think you would remember them taking it out, though not painful it was odd and uncomfortable. There was another sister whom had hers left in and in caused a severe infection. I would check if I were you, especially if you have had no discharge at all! Gl let us know, if it is there and you don't feel comfortable pulling it out, get yourself to your hospital, and then let your doc know what happened either way. This should not have been left. Probably stupid question about vaginal packing

Yes, I do remember the dr taking out the packing. It was the next day after surgery. He kept pulling it out and more and more. I was wondering how they got so much stuff up there. Felt so much better with it out.

It sounds like you have an infection going on. If they didn't take the packing out, that would be a problem. If they did, it's possible that what you saw was stitches that have disolved. Definately call the Dr. You shouldn't be having major burning during urination.

Feel better soon.

Call your dr and don't wait! Burning sensation can be bad, also if the packing is still in it needs to come out. Also blood in urine is not good sign and your dr neds to know what's going on w/ you. Let us know what happens. Hope u feel better soon.
