opening of corner of incision???
I just noticed that on my TAH incision(6/16.. 3 1/2 weeks) .. the right side is opening and its all red around it and oozing blood...it also has been more painful today...I know that the doctor said she only used 1 stitch and i am almost positive that is where it is.. there is no thread coming out.. and i have never seen anything there... I just tried to call my Dr.. and offc is closed til Monday .. and the emergency number is to the hospital..
Not sure what to do.. kinda scared.

Re: opening of corner of incision???
I would call the emergency number. It might not be anything serious but better to be safe than sorry. Keep us updated. Hugs!

Re: opening of corner of incision???
I did call the emergency number... it was to the hospital (that i work at.. so i knew the voice on the phone) Press 1 for ER.. press 2 for lab... blah blah.. I am not one that goes to the ER for everything.. it has to be a true emergency for me to go there.. ESP since i work there. But COULD this be something important.. ??? Hematoma??? infection??? i have heard (read) of a lot of crazy things on here... am i just looking too deep?? but also.. it is really bothering me.. painful wise.. even the binder doesnt help a bit.
CONFUSED!!!!.. I hate being so unsure of myself.. and i have been doing so darn good!!! ARGH!!!!
(sorry)

Re: opening of corner of incision???
you didnt say what type of work you do at the hospital. Do you have any co-workers that are nurses that could give you some advice? Some insurance companies have 24 hour nurses on hand by phone. If your insurance company does maybe you could get an answer that way. The incision opening and oozing blood sounds like it needs some medical attention to me. If you cant get answers by any of the above suggestions, I still think it would be better to call the ER even if you work there. Good luck with everything!

Re: opening of corner of incision???
The left side of my incision also opened up. It was red and sore and had an unusual smell to it. It was about an inch long and about a 1/4 inch deep.
My doc has me cleaning out the wound with a mixture of hydro peroxide and saline solution and packing it with a piece of gauze dipped in the solution two times a day. Then covering it with dry gauze and taping it in place. It is slowly closing up.
If I were you, I would call back and talk to someone in the ER and see what they say. If it is infected you dont want it to go all weekend with no treatment. Better safe than sorry.
I hope it turns out to be nothing.

Re: opening of corner of incision???
I also had a little blood coming from my incision. Pain was there also. I went to my doctor, and she said it was nothing-no infection, etc. I sort of freaked when I saw it. I would check into it just in case. I wish you well. I also hope it turns out to be nothing.
