Gastroscopy(sp)

Hi Girls,
I am going for a gastroscopy on THursday and I was wondering what anyone thought about the test if they have had it done before. I'm not really to keen on things stuck down my throut. Oh well I don't think it is for very long. At least you don't need a GA for it. Hopefully it's not any worse than a cytoscopy. It should be less embarassing anyways. At least your legs aren't in the stirups. LOL!!
I am a little nervous but I'm sure it will be fine. I am just looking for others experiences. Thanks

Gastroscopy(sp)

I've had a cystoscopy and have to say that I'd take a gastroscopy any day. I had one back in Jan. It was a piece of cake. No eating or drinking after midnight. They administered twilight meds through an IV and I slept through the whole thing. It took all of 20 minutes. Got up, got dressed and then went to eat lunch. Whoops, didn't read the discharge instructions about not eating for an hour, but everything was fine and I didn't feel a thing. They even took a biopsy from my stomach lining.

The anticipation is the worse part of the whole experience. You'll do fine.

Thanks for the reply. If it is easier than the cystoscopy I will be fine. I didn't find that bad at all.

I had a gastroscopy about 12 years ago. It was not a bad experience at all---with the twilight meds, you really don't care what they're doing, and you don't have to be half-naked to do it! It also didn't take very long at all, and once the twilight meds wore off, it was back to normal for me. Best wishes!

Thanks ladies you were right. The twilight meds worked great. I don't even remember the scope. I do have some mini-ulcers but he not convinced that they are causing my 'bloating'. I should have some more answers after the biopsies come back in a couple of weeks. Thank you for the support!

Glad to hear it went well with the gastroscopy. I'll be praying they find what the problem is and can take care of it easily!
