Vaginal hyst -- pillow or donut?

I'm scheduled for a vaginal hyst along with A&P repair -- and am wondering -- what will be most comfortable for me to sit on when I'm home? Will a rubber donut help? Do I need a pillow if I have a vaginal hyst? I've also seen a foam triangle that you can put your legs and feet up on -- has anyone tried that, and does it work? Any hints that can be shared for post-op comfort would be really appreciated!

Vaginal hyst -- pillow or donut?

I had the same surgery. I bought the donut pillow to sit on and it helped on the ride home big time! I used it only for sitting on hard surfaces at first and then in the car and now at work as well. It was uncomfortable to sit for 2-4 weeks because of the episiotomy they gave me but eventually it got better.

I brought my own pillow to sleep on to the hospital and I used it for the car ride home under the seatbelt. Other than that I just used couch pillows for between my knees when I was laying on my side or under them when laying flat.

I also bought feminine wipes along with Tucks - it helps after going to the bathroom - and remember to pat dry, not wipe. Sitz baths help as well for the swelling - I had to do them 2-3x a day for the first 2 weeks and I still do them when I get home from work. My doctor also gave me Dermaplast spray as well as a cream.

I had more "pain" (not really pain but uncomfortableness) from the A&P repairs than the hyster. I took my pain pills for 3 days after I got home and that was just so I could get some sleep! Other than that I take Aleve or Mortin IB if I need it.

Vaginal hyst -- pillow or donut?

I had a tvh on June 12th and I didn't use either one. I never used any kind of special wipes or anything. My biggest complaint was a feeling of heavyness in the bottom of my stomach..not painful just uncomfortable. Good luck

Vaginal hyst -- pillow or donut?

I had a TVH, but did not have an episiotomy and I never needed either a pillow or a doughnut. I just sat in a comfortable chair with an ottoman. As far as post-op suggestions, drink lots of water, eat plenty of fiber, rest, and pamper yourself. Good luck.

Vaginal hyst -- pillow or donut?

After my TVH/BSO, I didn't need a donut or a tummy pillow. My DH did, however, buy me lots of new pillows, which I used to get comfortable in bed or on the sofa. You may find that multiple pillows make sitting or lying down more comfortable, too. My biggest problem was back pain, and those pillows surely did help.
