one week out

Today is one week since my surgery. I had TVH with anterior and posterior repairs. I have been pretty discouraged the last couple days, spent all of Tuesday crying. I feel like there hasnt really been alot of improvement yet since the surgery which is why i am discouraged. Hubby goes back to work Monday so that also scares me if Im not feeling any better than I do now. Dr keeps saying I must be doing to much but all I do is rest. Every day I make one lap around my back yard then back to bed. Cant sit up in a chair because revised episiotomy is still to sore. Everyone else seems to feel at least some better a few days out so Im confused as to why Im not making any progress, Any Ideas?

Re: one week out

ks, Everyone feels pain differently and everyone heals at their own pace. Try really hard not to get discouraged!! What pain meds are you taking, and are you taking the maximum dose and on schedule? Getting behind on your pain can mean having a really hard time getting caught back up again. If you ARE keeping up with doses, call your doctor again and INSIST that he/she give you something that works for you.

At the one week mark, I was just barely able to cut back from the maximum dose hydrocodone, and it was the better part another week before I started to feel human again.

You had big surgery, and even though you may be comparing yourself to people with the procedures of the same name, it doesn't mean they had the same amount of work done.

Re: one week out

Well Said Nfreel! It took me two weeks, but was staying by myself for about 5 hours a day the second week. It was a slow recovery for me. Don't push it! Just set up your home before your hubby leaves with everything in reach. All you need to do is go to the bathroom while home alone for the first days. I kept water, cell phone, and pain meds by my side for at least 12 days, then it gets better. If I dropped something on the floor, I just kicked it to the side until someone got home.LOL.. Take it easy while you are home. Lots of TV cathing up! Oh yeah, and I remember reading the posts of the other ladies on how well they were recovering and crying. I thought I was being a wimp. No worries, it DOES GET BETTER!!!

Thank you everyone for your support. I know you've been there and its helps to talk to people who have. I had a small improvement today, I peed more than I have been(also had bladder sling done) never thought that would be something to celebrate lol I am trying to keep my head up and your encouragement helps, thanks again!

It sounds like you had a lot of work done. Give your self time and remember that everyone heals differently. Try to think happy thoughts and know that it does get better day by day. We're all pulling for you.
