Re: Can't sleep....night sweats!!!!

Many people here experience that. Regardless of us all agreeing we've gone through it - CALL YOUR DOCTOR. I read here and elsewhere that insomnia is common after many surgeries, and that even keeping your overies, night sweats at the beginning are common - BUT - I only told my doc this past visit that I wasn't sleeping (7 weeks) and she yelled at me that I should have called the office when the problem started. I am now seeing three seperate clinicians to address this - dietician, LCSW, and NP. I take two additional meds (no hormones) and am adjusting my diet. We can offer support, but you need to let your doc know this is happening to make sure it is normal for you.

Re: Can't sleep....night sweats!!!!

I agree with Sharpie - call the doc. I wish that I had. I also kept my ovaries (TAH) and didn't think there would be any problems. Let's see - mood swings, hot flashes, night sweats and severe insomnia among them. I thought that since I was already on meds because I am bi-polar that I was covered BOY was I wrong! I waited until I was 4 weeks post op to see GYN who did a hormone test which of course came back fine. Then I waited another 2 weeks to see my psych who put me back on Ambien and then had to increase my Klonopin. Psych really let me have it double barrells right beyween the eyes (in a very nice way, of course). He also told me that all of this is very normal and there is no reason to suffer. The hot flashes and night sweats went away on their own about week 5-6 but I really believe that the insomnia was contributing to the mood swings and since that is in the process of being eliminated, I'm feeling much better all around

Hope you are feeling much better in no time.
