Anyone With Dysplasia Having TAH

My test results show I have severe dysplasia, a specialist
recommended a Leep, my OB swayed toward hyst because of fibroid and abnormal bleeding. I feel great
and wonder have I really made the right choice in having
the hyst. My OB says he would have to have the dysplasia become worse in the near future. Has anyone
else been in this situation? Has anyone tried other alternative treatments to this condition?

I had dysplasia a few years ago. Along with bad endometriosos & heavy bleeding. I am looking forward to my hyst just so I can rid of all these painful days and focus on some brighter times in life. I will say this..get another professional opinion and don't do anything until you are 110% sure! I wish you strength and courage as you make the right choice for YOU!

Anyone With Dysplasia Having TAH

Hi Lynbert! I had stage 2 dysplasia about 10 years ago. My doctor recommended a LEEP also. The results were normal every year after that. My TAH-BSO was because of suspected ovarian cancer. In both cases I felt completely comfortable and confident with the advice of my doctors. Had I not felt that way, I would have sought a second opinion, or even a third, until I felt confident with how to proceed. I know it's a big decision, and I wish you the best in making it!

Anyone With Dysplasia Having TAH

I had moderate to severe displaysia a year and a half ago. I had a leep and since then I've gone in every few months for a pap. All of them have been normal. Now I have a 7-9 cm fibroid growing inside my uterus making it very enlarged. I have killer cramps the first couple days of my period but nothing 3 advil can't handle. I only bleed about 4-5 days so that is really easy. I am having a TAH on Feb. 14th and like you I feel pretty good most days, except feeling kinda preganant. But my fear is that the thing grew so fast and probably will keep growing since I'm 38. I don't want to wait and then have an even bigger thing to deal with. Along with the uterus they are taking the cervix because of the displaysia. I am happy to see it gone as that will hopefully reduce my risk for cervical cancer. I got a second opinion that I am settled on and I too suggest you keep getting different opinions until you feel settled.
Good Luck,
Betty

Another Question

Hi Betty, Thank you for your response. Best of luck with you surgery. I quess my major indecision hems more on that wheras I feel fine now and that I am going to have to face this surgery and endure all of the pain and recouperation ( not to mention I still haven't found a replacement for me at work) We all know we have to have this done to prevent worse problem.
Because of your condition have your doctor's spoken to you about also taking your overies. Mine did, he's in favor of taking them too. I want to try and keep my own. It doesn't appear that the therapy really work.
All the best to you, my thoughts and prayers will be with you on the 14th.

Anyone With Dysplasia Having TAH

Hi, I too had dysplasia. I did have a leep about a year and a half ago. Every pap since (you get rechecked every 3-4 months for 1 year) has been fine. I am having the LAVH for suspected Endo/adeno. ( I had a laparoscopy 8 years ago but the report was very vague) My Dr said If it wasn't endo they are way off their game. lol I am on Leupron for the second time and still in considerable pain even without a cycle. I have no children and unable to have them due to blockages in my tubes, So a hysterectomy is the right choice for me. I am 37yo and tired of the pain. If however, dysplasia is the only problem you know about and aren't in severe pain, ask again. Ask if the Dysplaisa has already developed into cancer, ask if the Leep could get it all, ask if you absolutely have to have the hyster. And DON'T hesitate to get a second or third opinion. Your body your choice. Best of luck to you. I hope it all works out. Cindy

Hi Lynbert,
I have had two doctors review my history and examine me and neither said to take my ovaries due to my previous dysplasia. I have researched a lot and haven't come across anything saying you need to remove ovaries because of pre cancerous lesions on your cervix. Are yours pre cancer or cancer? If yours are cancer then I can see the necessity of this. Hmm...any other sisters heard of taking ovaries for dysplasia?? I am keeping mine and like you I think natural hormones are best unless cancer is present and they have to come out. Thanks for your well wishes and I will be thinking and praying for you too!

By the way Lynbert, I am in no pain either so I understand your indecision. We are actually paying somebody to put us in pain! I have 1 or 2 killer days on my period but I live on Advil for those and I'm fine. That's it, other than that I'm fine. But I do have this large uterus so especially around my period I feel 3 or 4 months pregnant. It's so hard to make this decision. Do we sit around for 4 or 5 years until we do have a lot of pain and then deal with this? It's hard to know. Good luck to you!

Anyone With Dysplasia Having TAH

Hi Betty, My OB asked me to agree to taking out my overies should the surgeon find anything abnormal which I understand; however his first impulse was to just take everything at once due to my history of 10 years of dysplasia problems. Note I didn't have the same OB all of this time. My dysplasia is from HPV the worst strain; he is therefore concerned how far the virus will spread in the future should I only do a LEEP. Ultrasound has not been able to show my overies due to the size of several fibroids. He says he would hate to see me develop full blown cancer in the next full months. I do feel comfortable with my OB he is well respected recently retired from performing surgery and has been in practice for 35 yrs. I quess I am just extremely anxious and nervous of the unknown, in pain, and put out of control of my own body. I am used to taking care of myself and always being in control. I have been keeping extremely busy to try and keep my mind off of it, but I shudder at the thought of being cut. This site has made me aware that my situation is minor compared to the what other sisters have bravely faced. The support found on this site is a god
send. Thank you so much for listening. My prayers and thoughts will be with you on the 14th.
