back pain and involuntary stretching-Ouch!!!

Me too. Just about every morning I wake while doing an involuntary stretch. The other day I woke up as my back muscles were contracting and then the contractions wrapped around to my stomach muscles. The stretching usually happens twice before I get out of bed, and then when I do get out of bed my leg muscles tense up when I stand. I find this bizarre so I'm very glad to see that I'm not the only one.

Now when it happens I try to get control over it as quickly as possible and move the tension from my abdominal area to a different part of my body like my hands.

back pain and involuntary stretching-Ouch!!!

Thank goodness! I thought that my body had gone crazy. I am four weeks post-op and have had the stretching since about the first week. No lower back pain though. But I have been having some pink discharge. Not really blood, but pink. Anyone else?

Darn that stretch!

I just wanted to say how glad I am for this website. My doctor never said anything about stretching and my relatives who have had hysterectomies never had this problem. It's so good to know this is common!

Now if only someone could explain WHY.

back pain and involuntary stretching-Ouch!!!

I have arthritis all through my back and hips. Got a whole lot worse with the growing fibroids!
A few months ago, I got a body pillow on sale on a whim, and boy has that been a lifesaver! I don't sleep without it now, and if I travel, ask the hotel for extra pillows to put my knee on.
Since my Surgery on the 8th, the back and hip pain was actually better, (maybe its all the pain med tho, LOL!).
The body pillow doesn't help my belly though, so have a small belly pillow that I tuck under my belly overhang just above the groin for support and snug the body pillow in tight to that. Both problems get relief and I can sleep. Hope that helps!
