reluctant to loose my uterus

Hi Ladies:
So my story and concerns.
I got HPV 18 in 1997, it stayed inactive for 10 years, then3yrs after the death of my daughter I go to my gyno and am told I am precancerous cn 2/3. Several Leep procesures and colposcopies cause the opening between cervix and uterus to close up. So my doctor wants to do a laproscopic hysterectomy because she is concerned she can no longer monitor what's goin' on all up in there. She presented my case at a national conference and some nat'l specialist looked at my slides and said it looked like there were the columnar cells--the cells don't spread laterally and connected. I really don't want a hysterectomy and I don't actually have cancer. I also went to a naturopath and she too recommended one. I will read up on what it's like and recovery and all.

Re: reluctant to loose my uterus

Sweetie,
I had a different kind of precancer when first dxed and post surgery found out it was indeed cancer but thankfully a low stage one. If feasible you may want to consult with a gynecologic oncologist as they are the cancer experts. Also you are most welcome to post in our CC forum particularly re queries related to pre-cancer, etc. Here's a link to it: https://www.hystersisters.com/vb2/forumdisplay.php?f=6

Re: reluctant to loose my uterus

Sounds like your doc is at least on top of this!
Gyn-oncologist would be a great consultation right about now. If you are anywhere near an academic medical center, that's a great place to start!
You are going to want some answers on risks/benefits before you can begin to make a decision.
