External Vaginal Irritation
It has been 15 months since my surgery. I'm having an issue that I was wondering it anyone else is having. I'll try to make this brief. I had battled bacterial and yeast infections for about 4 months post-op. Since then I have been experiencing external vaginal irritation almost every day. I have been to my gyn thinking it was an infection. A couple of times it was a yeast infection, but twice now the test has come back negative for any infections. Since I have been experiencing this irritation I have been doing everything under the sun to stop it. I wear all white 100% cotton underwear (which I hate by the way), I use non-perfumed and dyed laundry detergent/fabric softener, wear loose clothing, eat yogurt every day, take acidophilus every day as well. I even sleep with no underwear. Sometimes I experience the irritation or rubbing) when I first put my clothes on in the morning as sometimes I experience it mid-morning at work. I'm sure sitting all day at my job doesn't help. I'm just at my breaking point. I've never had any issues with infections or irritation prior to surgery. Can anyone relate?

Try Eucerin cream, not the lotion. You can buy it in the round jars at the grocery store or drugstore. Don't use the lotion, it irritates me. The lotion has the same exact name but it contains different ingredients. I have very sensitive skin, everywhere, face, etc. etc. but the Eucerin cream will soothe it. TMI - I have hemorrhoids and when they are irritated I use the cream on my bottom, and it is amazing how it helps. It's worth a try!

Have you tried vasoline, or using vitamin E on it?

It sounds like vaginal dryness.
Have you tried KY Long-lasting or Gyne-moistrin moisturizers?
Also, are you using pantiliners at all?

Soaking in Aveeno Colloidal Oatmeal Soothing Bath might help.
It will ease the itchiness and soften/moisten the skin.
Good luck!

External Vaginal Irritation
After my surgery I had three yeast infections and I had never had them before my surgery. I used Monistat and they cleared up. I also have had vaginal irritation and I found that it is sometimes caused by certain soaps I use to wash with. Before my surgery, I was able to use anything to wash with, soap, shower gel, etc. Now I can only use baby soap/shampoo to wash the vaginal area or I will get an awful irritation. When I have gotten the irritations, I have used hydrocortizone cream to help relieve the pain and itch until it goes away. Who would have thought a hysterectomy would change how you could wash yourself?!?!? Hope this helps!

Do you still have your ovaries? Lack of estrogen causes thinning onf the vaginal tissues along with the vaginal dryness etc so that can be causing your irritation. someone suggested estrogen cream to me. I haven't had to try it yet but it is something I am going to ask the doctor about.

Go see a dermatologist. There are a variety of skin conditions that will cause vaginal itching. If it is not internal then it must be a skin condition.
Good luck and hope you feel better soon.
