One week from today...

I will have my surgery. I had my pre-op pre-admision appointment this past Monday. It was very informative. They gave me handouts on what to expect for my hysterectomy and my bladder tape. In the info, it talked about getting pain meds with my anti-nausea drugs...I like that!! Then it goes on to say what happens after surgery and kind of gives you an insight on how you might feel. It told me about getting a liquid diet, moving up to soft foods, and a regular diet.

I can picture myself going under and then waking up to feel like it is done.

Of course, I have my fears. I think my biggest fear is about how slow my blood is to clot. The nurse said it was normal to clot between 2 to 8 minutes. My clot time was 7 minutes. I am fearful that I'll have clotting problems. But I know that the hospital staff will keep an eye on me and give me transfusions if I need it.

Just want to thank everyone on this board for giving me encouragement and all the other posters who have posts questions, that I never thought to ask. Thank you to those who have started this board, it has truly been a blessing.

If you have problems with blood clotting, I wouldn't worry. It seems that you're treated with kid gloves if you have any issues - at least that was my experience. I had high blood pressure (drug controlled) before my surgery and they were very good at keeping an eye on it - they checked on it all the time.

I'm glad your pre-op went so well! My surgery is to be the day after yours, on Sept 20. My pre-op won't be until the day before.

We received final approval from our insurance yesterday so...it's official
