e-coli following my hysterectomy

Hi everyone i went to the doctors today and he said that i have e coli how does that happen i went in for a hysterectomy and now i have ecoli has anyone ever heard of this?

Do you have a urinary tract infection that started with E. coli or is the problem with an incision? E. coli is a common cause of UTIs and any organism can cause issues in a wound. E. coli is most commonly associated with food poisoning but is actually found in almost everyone's colon.

Did your doctor start you on antibiotics?

If you have specific questions about how you acquired a problem with E. coli, do give your doctor's office a call and ask some questions!

Hi thanks for being concerned my doctor said that the e col is in the wound and intestine I asked him how did I get it and he didn't know well who would know I'm taking amoxicillin the nurse in the office couldn't believe how much weight I've lost I was like208 and now I'm 190 I still want to lose 40 more pounds. I can't wait until I feel normal again also I have to see a rhuematologist next month I pray everything is okay I will keep you guys informed. This forum is awesome
