Frustrated! Lack of family support since hysterectomy

Im 8 days post op.. The first few days after my surgery my husband and teenage boys were great with helping me. Unfortunately because I could not take a lot of sick time from work I went back to work yesterday. Now that I'm back to work it seems they just think I am fine and like I never had surgery and that I'm not still recovering.
Even though I explain to them that I still can't do a lot of things it seems they expect me to just be the way I was before surgery , doing EVERYTHING.
I get attitude when I just got home from 8 hours sitting on a hard office chair ( the donut cushion not helping) because I'm laying down on the couch and don't want to get up.
I am terrified that I will do something to hurt my recovery and I am trying to take it easy. I am experiencing hot flashes and mood swings even though I kept my ovaries.
Sorry to vent ladies but I really appreciate all of you. This is a great community of women and their knowledge and experience and it has helped me a lot. Thank you

Re: Frustrated! Lack of family support

I am sorry that you aren't getting the support you need. Maybe printing a few pages from our Mister HysterSister site or having them look at the site might help them realize what your body has and is going through. I can't imagine going back to work after 8 days so you really do need the help at home.

Re: Frustrated! Lack of family support

I'm back at work and bought two weeks of ready to eat food from the grocery store. Do they like it. Nope. But I'm fatigued and this is all I can do now. The house is dirty too. Don't care.

Re: Frustrated! Lack of family support

Hey, I'm new here but I understand. I don't have kids or a husband...or a prospect for that matter. But my bio family is not people I can just talk to. My friends are my fam, and they have lives, and I am stuck on a couch. This process has not been easy, but I will say that as iam healing, things are getting better, I still get that " no one understands" feeling, and it's a lonely one, but it passes. I don't know what else to say in comfort other than, you're not alone! And this to shall pass. Love and healing thoughts are being sent your way! Stay strong

Re: Frustrated! Lack of family support since hysterectomy

Ask for help from anyone and everyone. I've learned that. I'm 2 1/2 weeks post op tah. I was feeling good so I started to pick up the slack thaty hubby and 4 kids weren't doing. Bad idea. Set me back to pain like it was my first week. Then I learned I can't do it all. If dinners not made And the house is a wreck who cares. Too tired to fight with them about it. So I vented on Facebook about it and wouldn't you know I have people coming to crack the whip for me daily. They said all I had to do was ask for the help and since I hadn't they thought I was okay. So seriously ask for help from everyone!!
