traveling question

Misty,

You're welcome for the advice.

Good luck on your surgery Friday.

I will be travelling to visit family that day and will keep you in my thoughts as I drive.

traveling question

Misty,

Just tell your family the doctor nixed the idea of you going along. Then it makes him/her the "bad guy" and not you.

traveling question

MistyHugs,

Hi there! I am 4 weeks post op today, and I am supposed to go on a long trip this coming weekend. 5 hours there one day, two hours to the event the next day, and spending the day at a sporting event..then back 2 hours, and home 5 hours the next day.

You know...I STILL Think I can do it. However, I'm starting to think the 5 hour trip would defeat my purpose of going to the sporting event...I'd be wiped out,is my thinking! While I havent' yet said no, my point is that even after 4 weeks post op I'm not sure I should make this trip...let alone ONE week post op!

I'm probably NOT going to make this special occasion trip...Rather I will make plans later in the summer to spend quality time with my family..maybe something you should consider?

Everyone heals differently, and maybe you'll be able to make your trip...but remember ...as I've heard bandied about on this board...you only have one chance to heal properly. Don't push it! If you aren't up to it, just say NO!

Good luck!

traveling question

Hi,
I had a TVH on the 18th. I think if you are as tired as you say you are right now, you are not going to be going anywhere with your aunt. You must listen to your body and rest. I went to a memorial service and luncheon 10 days after my surgery. I didn't have to travel far but I was gone for 4 hours. I was fine the first hour and a half, but then started getting very shaky. I ended up having a muscle spasm in my back (which I've never had in my life) and my legs felt like jelly. I over did it that day. Even though you feel fine, your body is still not ready for the everyday stresses. Tell your aunt that you won't be able to go with her this time. Your body has this short period of time to heal and you need to help it by resting and not running all over the place. Good luck telling her. I know you will be able to do it though! We are all pulling for you. May your surgery go as smoothly as mine and may your recouperation be speedy and uneventful.
Susan
