freaked out that I will never be able to work out again!!
OMG!!
The more I read about the whole lifting thing, the more freaked I get. I am 43 and I live to do my workouts. These are intense as I lift heavy weights. ie; I was squating 90 lbs before surgery. My workout is mostly weight lifting (no I don't look like a manwoman). Now I am afraid that if I do this, my intestines will shoot out of my vagina and splatt all over the matts. Eeeww, paints a gross picture!! But I was so looking forward to getting back to the gym so I would not dwell on my arteries hardening, my bones getting brittle and going bald and growing facial and back hair.
It took me years to figure out this workout, and for the first time I actually look really good because of it. Nothing else worked. So when told to just tone it down, I might as well do nothing because I am sure I will gain a bunch of weight back that I worked so darn hard to get off.
Sorry, Just really feeling sorry for myself now. It was my total plan to just hit the gym and make it my mission to be a totally inshape woman without a uterus and overies.
I am starting to feel obsessed. I look at other woman and I wonder, do they have a uterus and overies, or don't they. I just want to see what a 43 year old woman looks like that does not have those parts, and then I will perhaps know, if I need to be afraid. LOL. I am of course, kidding!!! ............ Sort of .......
sigh!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi Renee
You're still pretty early in your recovery period and you should still be taking it easy.
Discuss your workout with your DR and make sure your insides are healed before you hit the gym again.
You only heal ONCE, so make sure you do it right the first time

lifting
I'm there. I was so happy with my weight lifting and I was strong compared to most of the women I saw at the gym. I always did power sets so my heart was pumping as well. I figured I would beat my genetic predisposition for osteoporosis AND be toned and strong as I got older.
Ironically, weight lifting was one of the few things left for me to do because many of the standard aerobic options caused my uterus to drop uncomfortably.
I figure I will go back to weight lifting but change to light weights. Maybe a super-slow approach. Have you read about this? Some swear that it is way safer for your joints and even more effective at building strength than using heavier weights...

I had the same thoughts about my weight lifting - my doctor told me not to panic I would eventually get back there, but I needed to completely heal first. Not there yet - so make sure to ask your Doctor specificially about it!

Hi, I do not lift weights but have been active before and after my surgery. I'm a walker and hiker and actually do quite a bit of lifting just doing yardwork and other home projects and have noticed that if I lift to much my pelvic area feels very strained and uncomfortable for days after. I still have my cervix which my doctor said helps support the pelvic floor. I don't think any of us really know what we will be capable of doing until we fully recover.

Me too.......
I am 3 weeks post-op. I feel like a big blob. The most I can do is a little walking; not even race walking. I get so easily tired.
But I am waiting until I'm fully healed. I wonder how long it takes until we can begin to do real exercises and workouts? Anyone got an answer?
Love to all, Andra
