staying only one night

My doctor originally said that he'd be keeping me two nights to watch me. Today at preop he said I'll only stay next Wednesday night then go home. Since I live two hours from the hospital he suggests staying in a hotel nearby. I'm thinking this might be the best option. What do Yall think

Re: staying only one night

I stayed only one night and was totally fine. Given your distance from the hospital the nearby hotel sounds like a great idea.
I was pleasantly surprised at how good I felt after, not even close to what I imagined.
Good luck.

I have a very hard time recovering from surgery, not sure why but I do. I have fibromyalgia also and surgery always causes a huge flare. I'd feel better at the hotel before headed home

Re: staying only one night

I think the hotel is a great idea. That way you can be sure before the long drive back... Someone else is driving, correct?

My brother has fibromyalgia so I'm familiar with the pain it causes. I truly hope this surgery will be the one that doesn't cause a flare up, or that it is at least manageable. Hugs, good luck.

Re: staying only one night

I was only supposed to stay one night and ended up staying two. A nearby hotel would be a very good idea!

Re: staying only one night

I had my LAVH on April 4th....I too, live 2 hours away from my hospital. I stayed one night and went home the next day. When I first woke up the next day, I said "no way can I go home today"....then I took a shower, walked in the hall, ate some lunch and really felt good! Hubby and I thought about staying in a hotel, but we didn't......I was soooooo glad to get home to my own couch and TV....and I slept better too. We didn't even stop on the trip home, it was so windy outside, I said....let's just get home! Good Luck!! You really will do fine!
