Realistic expectation for time off work?

I know this depends on so many variables but I would like to know.

My dr said I could probably go back at 3 weeks if no complications because I have a desk job and no lifting.

This is what he is expecting to do:
Total vaginal hysterectomy (keeping ovaries)
Sacrospinous colpopexy (correcting vaginal position back where it belongs)
Enterocele repair
Cystocele repair
Rectocele repair
Colpoperineorraphy (perineal muscle repair)
Urethralysis (this sounds like removing scar tissue from previous urethral sling that is causing problems)
Remove vaginal graft from precious surgery
Sling urethropexy

Expected one night in hospital and will go home with a suprapubic catheter until I'm voiding more on my own than from the catheter (probably 1-2 weeks depending on voiding results).

The nurse also agreed barring complications that 2-3 weeks was reasonable. I am very fit and run 15 miles per week with 5 days of cardio and resistance training. I have a high tolerance for pain and have done well in previous recoveries (appendix, bladder sling, and ablation).

I know it sounds like he is doing a lot of work down there but he said surgery was expected to be 2 1/2 hours.

Is this 2-3 week postop return goal even obtainable?

Re: Realistic expectation for time off work?

This sounds IDEAL, but not realistic, considering all the repairs you are having. I too was in decent shape, But had open abdominal procedure. Many ladies on here went back to desk job at 3 to 4 weeks and ended up needing more time. Now my friend had lap hyst and was in walmart on day 3. Everyone is so different. I think if you have a boss who will let you go half days if needed (flexible), it may work. Best of luck. See ya on the other side!

Re: Realistic expectation for time off work?

I don't go back until January 6th. I have desk job. I'm bringing the same amount home on disability as regular pay so I'm in no hurry. I've had a great time off.
