Re: Emergency Hyster & Near Death Experience

Hi gratful2011,
I had a similar experience in May of 2009. I was in the dentist chair and felt increasing pain and dizziness. I too was embarrassed and confused to what was going on, I thought I was having a panic attack. I laid in the car for an hour or so and drove home carefully. I was so scared that I didn't tell anyone what happened and I didn't go to the hospital. I hid everything for three days until I passed out and my husband found me on the floor. I went to the doctor and he said I was having dizzy spells and sent me for lab work and then home. The hospital called and said that I needed an emergency blood transfusion (lost 6 units according to my blood count) , but, I had bad medical insurance and knew it would take everything we had. I was not thinking clearly (obviously) so I did not go in.
I ate really good, took it easy, and felt better in about a week. I finally did get testing and they cleared me of ovarian and colon cancer.
After a year and not fully recovering, my doctor suggested a hysterectomy because I was still producing fluid cysts with strong medicine.
My surgery was much more complicated because of the lesions that formed and stage 4 endometriosis. All that blood took the endometriosis to places it should not have gone. I am 6 weeks post op and wished I was not so embarrassed about my condition. I would NEVER do it again and would never encourage any one else to. I am so proud of you for going right away and having your child help you. My mom always taught me to be tough and keep personal things a secret. I am lucky to have survived, but I wish I would have done something sooner.
I am glad you found this site! There are LOTS of encouraging ladies here if you ever need a lift.

I have learned so much here! THANK YOU ALL !

"Hugs and hang in there" to all
