Hysterectomy Rescheduled

My surgery was scheduled for December 2nd and then a few days ago the hospital called and rescheduled for January 13th. I am a little frustrated because I already work through all the emotions and fears and I had finally come to terms with my surgery but now since getting this news I am back to being anxious and emotional again... I am also feeling angry (i guess that's the best way to put it) about being in chronic pain for another month and a half. ugh!

Re: Surgery Rescheduled

Hi jordyshorty20 to HysterSisters

I am sorry your surgery was cancelled. It can happen, and other women have experienced the same thing on this site. It is hard to go through all of those emotions again.

I do believe that things happen for a reason. It may not be clear now, but may become more clear as time goes on.

Re: Surgery Rescheduled

my husband answer the call because i was out picking the kids up from school and he said that they did not give a real explanation other than we need to reschedule and this is the next date available.. I have an appt with my gyno in a few days so I am going to speak with him about it... It sucks to be put back in limbo again that is for sure.

jordyshorty20 -

I know that limbo really sucks. You get mentally and emotionally ready for this, not to mention the reorganization of your life and work, and then surgery gets switched. It makes you just want to

Let us know what your doctor says....

I know exactly where you are coming from. Mine was to be today but was cancelled on Monday. It has not been rescheduled. I had been so stressed about the whole surgery and recovery that I hadn't had a good nights sleep in almost 8 weeks. Gyn told me the most the schedulers would give him was they could not reschedule until at least late Jan and even then won't give a date until somtime in January. My blood pressure has been extremely high going into this and that was also worrying. Had to see gyn yesterday and I told him the whole thing wasn't worth the stress anymore and that I no longer wanted the surgery. While I knew that wasn't really an option I had the best nights sleep I've had in two months last night. I'm just refusing to even contemplate the surgery now until I have a final date.

On the upside the cancellation is giving me time to get a second opinion, and the gyn has now referred me to a gyn/onc which given I have a pre-cancer diagnosis has to be a huge bonus.
The new hospital is huge in comparison to my local one, with far more modern equipment. Only issue if I have surgery there is a 4 hour drive home post surgically.

Maybe there'll be a bright side for you as well. I'm a great believer that things happen for a reason, sometimes we just don't know what the reason is. For now though I'm going to be attending Christmas festivities I wouldn't have been able to had surgery happened today. Enjoy your Christmas, and I wish you the best with your new date.
