Whoa, I'm in major nesting mode!

I'm doing all sorts of weird things over the past few days (well, I didn't think they were *that* strange, but my husband pointed them out to me as pretty off the wall to him!). I just have this uncontrollable urge to do a ton of stuff before I'm bedridden for several weeks. Today I pickled jalapenos and canned them, dried fresh sage and ground it up, painted a wall, cleaned my blinds, laundered our comforters, steam-cleaned my carpets, cleaned my light fixtures, and have been dusting like a mad woman. Never mind that I've never canned a thing in my life nor done anything with herbs before. Additionally, I'm really not one to worry about the dust on my baseboards, but suddenly I feel like every last bit of dust must be wiped before I go under the knife on Tuesday. I didn't do this much nesting prior to delivering my children . . . is this normal??

Help, I'm going to drive my family nuts before this is all over!

Kim -

Sounds normal to me. I am normally a very busy person and when i found out I'd be out for 8 weeks - UGH!!!! i did everything under the sun i could think of prior to surgery. The worst day was the day of...my surgery was at 3 and didn't have to be at the hospital until 1:30pm - OMG I must have done a weeks worth of crazy stuff that morning.

Best wishes to you.

Kim,
Sounds normal here. I'm doing everything in few days that should have been done all month. Found out last Friday that I go in on October 21st. Driving family crazy. Even my 10 month old puppy is crazy because I keep picking up the toys that he "hides" in my sofa and chair. They can't wait until I'm back to "normal".

Good luck on Tuesday!

Whoa, I'm in major nesting mode!

Kim,
I just started to do the same thing. My date is 10-27. I even made homemade applesauce?????? I think I am worried about the house being "just right" because my mom will be here to help for a few days then my mother in law and I don't want them to see I've been letting things go since I've been in such pain this last month...so I take a pain pill and do alittle at a time. With three kids I'm sure I would die if I really SAW the house the day I got home from the hospital. DH says he will help alot...its still not the same.

You know, I think that's what's going on in the back of my head as well. My mom will be here for a week (she gets in on Sunday), and she's such a perfectionist. Nothing in her house is ever out of place, and you could walk through her house with a white glove on and not find a trace of dust anywhere. It's hard to live up to that standard, especially with 2 little kids (and a messy husband!). My mother-in-law is coming the following week, and I guess I want things equally nice for her so that she sees how great a mom and wife I am. I suppose it's silly, but I guess I'll take advantage of the energy while I have it. It won't last long, that's for sure!

Kim . . . eeek, down to just 4 days!

Whoa, I'm in major nesting mode!

My brain is on overload and I want to do so many things but I am so tired I have no energy. I'm just so afraid of coming home and over-doing it, which I am famous for doing. I'm glad you are getting so much done but don't forget to rest some.

Kim-

I have to agree with you. I think that pile of dry cleaning is finally getting to the dry cleaners this weekend. And I also think that if you run out of things to do at your house, you are more than welcome to come over and help at mine!
