Lupron - help!!!!

Hi,
I started taking Lupron for a different reason-PMDD. My doctor told me my symptoms would disappear "right away", but his nurse cautioned me it may take several weeks. I had somewhat of a normal period for 3 months, and my PMS symptoms didn't disappear for 3 months either. Hope you get some relief soon!

Lupron - help!!!!

MonLee

I had 3 monthly shots of Lupron before my surgery. If I remember correctly, it wasn't until the 3rd or 4th week that it starting "working" and then, after the second shot, I was definitely into a chemical menopause. As you say, there are so many different stories and the drug certainly affects people in different ways. I had my period as normal in the first month and then nothing after that. In that second month, the hot flashes and aching joints really set in but it was nothing I couldn't handle.

As your surgery isn't for another 6-7 weeks, hopefully you'll get the answers you're looking for during that time.

I don't know if you've tried any site or forum searches on Lupron? If you haven't, it would be well worth it as Lupron has been discussed in a number of forums.

Wishing you all the very best!

Lupron - help!!!!

My experience was like (((Poodle's))) - 3mo injection, period came on time - (bad as always) plus I had a much worse than normal headache with it. The hot flashes started right after that - beginning of second month. According to the Lupron Web Site , the surge should only last a week or two.

The relief I had from Lupron was worth the trade-off for me. I hope you do well on it.

Gentle s to you.

Lupron - help!!!!

I had three 3 month injections. I felt like I was in chemical menopause in the second week of the first injection. Hot flashes, night sweats, mood swings I didn't have any periods. But I was very emotional. My doc prescribed an anti-depressant for that and it helped a lot.

We are all different. Good luck to you.

Lupron - help!!!!

I too had the three month injection of Lupron. It was about 2 weeks into the first shot that I could feel a change. My pain was less, then my period started. I started getting hot flashes and night sweats at about 3 weeks after my first shot. I am 2 months in to my second shot and my TVH scheduled for 11/8. The shots worked great for me, no pain, headaches are gone and no heavy bleeding.

Hope you feel better soon.
