4 weeks post hysterectomy bleeding

I had my surgery 4 weeks ago tomorrow and I am still bleeding. I went to the doc on Friday and he said my vaginal stitches had torn and cauterized in there. Things were ok over the weekend and only had spotting. Today the bleeding is full force again and I am in tons of pain. I have called the office a few times in the last couple weeks and the nurse tells me it's normal and hangs up. Is this normal? I am going through a pad about every 2 hours

Bleeding through a pad every 2 hours is not normal; it's an emergency that needs immediate attention. I would recommend going to the E.R, letting them know you'very just had a hysterectomy, and are bleeding profusely, and ask if they have a gynecologist on call who could see you. I don't agree with that nurse's attitude; you need immediate treatment for this, so that you can continue with your recovery. Sending you gentle hugs, and best wishes for everything!

Call your Dr. If you are going through a pad every couple hours that could be a problem. I would just make an appointment to see Dr VS calling and talking to them over the phone. Prayers!

Thanks for the responses ladies. I finally got the doctor's office to listen. Come to find out I had a large hematoma that needed to be removed. I had surgery yesterday and while they were in there they found that my large intestine had fused to my vagina. The doctor was able to fix everything and remove the hematoma. Now I am in bed, miserable in pain, but hopefully on the mend now.
