Full of emotions, anxious, excited, concerned... I know its normal.

Realizing that I have only 1 more shift at work. By the time I go to work next I will have had my pre-op exam. I'm getting anxious and excited for the procedure that I'm hoping will solve my problems. I'm concerned that it may only be trading one problem for another - PMDD and dysmenorrhea for menopause. I'm concerned with how I will feel afterwards as well as how I will act. Being a nurse we deal with patients and their families that can be sometimes demanding. I was one of those family members and lost trust in the medical system. I'm scared that past experiences will carry over to this hospital even though it is a totally different hospital and a totally different set of doctors.

I know my feelings are normal and because I was concerned I would have these feelings the closer the procedure got I was trying not to do the count down too much. I still won't let myself realize just how few of days it is until the event happens it will just make time drag more.

Thanks for letting me vent and express my feelings.

Re: Full of emotions, anxious, excited, concerned... I know its normal.

My surgery is 25th October with my pre op tomorrow morning - the time is so dragging!!! I have read posts on her like yourself and believe it is normal to feel the way we do. One minute excited because there will be an end to the pain and bleeding and then anxious about the op and how we will feel afterwards. I taught myself simple crochet via you tube last weekend which helped many hours to pass. I'm hoping that will help me next week and the first few weekd following the op. Good luck, I'll look out for you in post op !!!!!
