2 weeks extended to 4 weeks...

I had daVinci and expected to be going back to work tomorrow. I knew there was no way I could be up on my feet teaching all day. The trip to doctor's office did me in! Thankfully, when I mentioned my concern to the doctor he said I needed another two weeks to recover.

I was in some degree of pain (gas pains) while I was there and my blood pressure (which is naturally low) was 144/85. DH thinks it might be because I was anxious about needing more time to get better, I think it was more likely from pain or a combination of both.

Anyhow... I'm continuing to rest and increase my physical activity as my body allows (per Doctor's orders!)

Re: 2 weeks extended to 4 weeks...

I am so glad he gave you an extra 2 weeks. My doctor was going to allow me to go back to light duty but my work would not allow it. He would not release me to goto full duty because I would have had to squat if one of my athletes got injured so there was a chance I would have ripped or popped a stitch on the vaginal cuff. I wish I would have taken the full 6 weeks off so do not rush it. It sounds like you are not but if you need more time make sure you tell him. You only get one chance to recovery from this. I wish I would have taken the advice of MANY on here and did what they said.

Good luck with your recovery.

Take as much time as you need. You only get one chance to heal correctly. I am glad your doctor agreed.

That was my feeling, too! He assured me that healing is an individual thing.

Re: 2 weeks extended to 4 weeks...

I too had daVinci on 10/15 and thought I would only be off for 3-4 weeks. When I went back for 4 week post op appointment, she said my cuff was not totally healed and suggested that I take the whole 6 weeks off. Some days I think I should be back at work and then the next day, I cannot stay awake. Today was one of those days - I napped off and on all day. I wonder if it's because I was on the go all day Sunday and then I cleaned house all day yesterday, including running the vacuum?
