Bumpy Bus Ride

I had my TAH BSO on April 11, which was 9 weeks ago. On Friday, I rode in a school bus on a class trip for about 20 minutes each way. The ride was extremely bumpy and each time, I could feel my body absorb the shock waves. I was sore for the rest of the dy, but Saturday and today were even worse. Has anyone else ever had this happen? How lond did it take to to get back to where you were?

Hi Shari,

At 9 weeks it's still early in recovery and I found some days the simplest of things could make me sore while other days I was fine. You need to remember everything is still settling into the newfound room it now has and that it's possible all your internal sutures haven't dissolved.

If you're at all concerned call your doctor or perhaps a visit to your local GP will help ease your concerns.

Take care
Karen

I had that too, but i was 4 weeks at the time. It took me several days to get better from the long car ride. I still at 6 weeks get achey like that even if i do too much.

Bumpy Bus Ride

I had surgery back in January and I took my first pain free long car ride week before last. I have been so sore after long car rides since surgery, anything over 1 1/2 hours and I would be in pain for days! We have had to take several trips and this last one was the first one I didn't end up in pain after. I thought I would because I ended up sitting outside for several hours on the hard ground (we drove from Knoxville to Nashville to be extras in the Hannah Montana movie with my daughter). But I made it there and back with no problems! We had taken a trip a couple of weeks before that and it still hurt. So I am soooooo glad to be past that hump!

Bumpy Bus Ride

I'm at 6 weeks post-op today and every weekday I have to take public transportation. In the morning I have someone drop me off at our light rail station, but at night I have to take that home, then get on a bus. That's when I notice I get a little sore, and I also notice the swelly belly. I've had a couple of friends tell me it takes almost up to a year before it goes away completely, but it's just kind of irritating more than painful after a couple of months. I usually just feel kind of bruised or achy and either a hot or cool compress helps out depending on how I feel.
