Re: how can i still do halloween????

In all honesty, the kids won't remember or resent you for not going trick or treating. Last Halloween was cancelled for my kids...we got hit with the hurricane, had no power or heat, and were living in a hotel for a week. The town cancelled Halloween, asking everyone to stay home a they tried to clean up the town. My kids were disappointed at the time, but we vowed to make the next Halloween the best possible.

Do what you can to enjoy it with them, but don't put yourself at risk for setbacks. If you hurt yourself for Halloween, then you might ruin thanksgiving and Christmas for yourself. And next year, when you are fully recovered, you can have a great Halloween with them.

This is a time where you have to put your body's need to heal *first*. How you handle your recovery has the potential to affect your health for the rest of your life. So you can miss Halloween this *one* year - or you can deal with possible health consequences for all the years to come. Don't your kids deserve a healthy Mom? More importantly, don't *you* deserve a healthy you?

Re: how can i still do halloween????

Maybe your kiddos could do a little trick or treating and a little handing out the candy? That way you can see them in action.

Have your husband take them out for a little bit, and then bring them home to you. You can get a comfy chair and sit out on the porch and have the trick or treaters come to you. The kids would love handing out the candy. This would give your husband an easy out from taking 4 kids out by himself for a longer period of time.

I am having a Davinci surgery, but I have had a csection. I remember trying to do the grocery shopping just a couple weeks after and that was horrible. Please rest when you need to, I know it is hard with little ones. But, if you could cause more problems by pushing your recovery.

Re: how can i still do halloween????

Two things (and forgive my bluntness) if your DH is driving, and you're in the car while he escorts the kids from house to house, you're not missing it, and they're not missing it, and they will be just as happy. If, however, you act as if you're doing something to them by not being able to walk with them, you are then programming them to be bothered by it and resent you for it, when there is no need for that. They will mimic how you are, and in turn be trained to be inconsiderate to boot. Please cherish the good moments and let them know they're special enough for you to go in the car, so you can enjoy the holiday too.
Too rough?

Thank you for your bluntness and honesty. What you said makes sense and I will do the best with what I can. Thank you everyone for the advise.
