TVH on Aug 31st

Surgery went very well and was in bed the entire day with a lot of monitors attached to me along with a catheter. Since I was on a clear liquid diet, I drank lots of water, juice and broth which really helped when they took the catheter out the following morning. I was able to urinate and empty my bladder within an hour and half after the catheter was removed. I was discharged much earlier than the doctor expected since the reports from the nurses came back saying that I was doing wonderful. I was really nice to sleep in my own bed last night and was able to sleep very well. Tired today since I am still on pain meds due to soreness in my stomach area. The next two weeks I will have help around the house with cleaning, cooking and laundry. I am going to take my time going back to work even though I have a desk job. My health comes first and don't want any complications down the road.

Re: TVH on Aug 31st

Hi Eileen,I am so happy that your surgery is over and your on the road to recovery. Happy too that your feeling good. Don't over do it. Let whoever is helping you do it all for awhile. You need lots of rest and pampering. I am 4 weeks post-op tomorrow and am still resting a lot and pampering. If I do too much my body lets me know it!! Keep us posted

Re: TVH on Aug 31st

I just hopped on the scale and I weight 15 pounds more than usual. Is that common?

Re: TVH on Aug 31st

That's probably a lot of water weight from the surgery, especially with how much you're having to drink right now. It is pretty common with a lot of women to have that extra weight from all the extra bloating and all. I weigh an extra eight pounds six days post-op still. It should go away as your swelly belly goes away, and your body works on getting back to normal in the coming weeks. Good luck, and glad to hear everything went well.

Re: TVH on Aug 31st

I did as well. It is finally coming off. . .I think it is all the fluids they give you through the IV plus all you drink and what not. ..sometimes our bodies want to hold on to it.
It'll get better.
