Almost 3 wks post op and need to vent a little bit

Hi everyone!
Like everyone else has mentioned thank goodness for this site! I had laporoscopic/vaginally assited hyst with both ovaries removed (so annoyed I can't even remember the abbreviations right now!) almost 3 weeks ago and I'm just fed up!

I had a decent recovery I guess considering I have lupus and expected alot worse.

Almost a week after I got extreme diarrhea which I was tested for c diff for and so far no results so I guess it wasn't that seeing as the diarrhea is gone.

I had been having back pain which I attributed to sitting around too much and the fact that I have in the past had horrible arthritis in my back but just to be sure I went to my GP yesterday and she's pretty sure I have a UTI. I've never had one of these before in my life! She put me on macrobid (?) and sent my specimen out to a lab to be sure. I'm taking this antibiotic and I feel even more horrible than I did before! It's so aggravating!

I just want to get back to normal and it feels like an eternity has gone by!

The doc also said I'm borderline anemic but I have to treat the UTI first and then see about the anemia.

So frustrating but I knew everyone here would understand.
Hope everyone is doing well!

Re: Almost 3 wks post op and need to vent a little bit

Hi,
I rode a roller coaster of emotions my 3rd week. I was moody, crabby and just plain frustrated with my lack of improvement. I felt like this would never end and I would never feel better. My back was killing me and I couldn't find a comfortable way to sit. What I'm trying to say is I understand how you feel, and things will get better.

I'm in my fourth week and at last feeling pretty good. I also had set backs last week, UTI and stitch issues and a week has made a huge difference . So hang in there it will get better.

We had surgery on the same day and I understand where you're at.

I just finished my meds for a UTI (macrobid too). It helped a lot.

I'm feeling down and bored and ready to have my life back.

Sending lots of thoughts to you for healing and patience.

Re: Almost 3 wks post op and need to vent a little bit

What were the symptoms of your uti's, if you don't mind my asking? I have been having a 'pinching' sensation when I urinate. No burning or pain but very uncomfortable. Also my urine looks cloudy to me instead of clear or yellow. I see my doc today for 3 week post-op and the office said they would do a check for infection. I have had uti's in the past and I always hurt a LOT, so I didn't think this was it, but now I am wondering.......

Re: Almost 3 wks post op and need to vent a little bit

Thanks girls! Sadly, it makes me feel better to know I'm not alone feeling what I do.

Jrzygirl-I really didn't have any symptoms. I have back pain but I don't even know if that is from the infection. I just didn't feel well and felt like something was wrong. I did have a little pinching feeling like you're saying. I think it didn't get too bad b/c I have literally been flooding my system with fluids!

I have any appt with my gyn on Thursday again for a 4 week post op visit. I'm sure she'll make me feel better too.

Thanks so much to everyone here. I hope everyone is feeling better!

Re: Almost 3 wks post op and need to vent a little bit

Usually I have had pain with a UTI, but not as much this time. More it was a really uncomfortable feeling (different from the surgery feelings) and a sense of feeling sick to my stomach.

I'm doing much better with that. Now I just need the incision to heal properly.
