Vag Dryness

Hi Meanie,
It has been 6 months since my TAH-BSO and right away I had pain in my bladder when I urinated, every time too .. sharp pain! At one week post op and at 6 weeks post I gave a urine sample but no UTI showed. I had an emergency Gall Bladder surgery post op 4 weeks from the TAH-BSO (Oh I was so mad at my body but recovered nicely) MY GYN thought I had too much stress against my bladder with having two surgeries but it hurt after the first surgery. I was on Estrace at first after surgery and then switched to vivelle dot patch and this helped with hot flashes and was wonderful. At 8 weeks post op I made an appointment to see my GYN because of the pain and vaginal dryness too. My GYN took a look and said I was starting atrophy and was dry. She prescribed Estrace Vaginal cream and told me to use it every evening for one full week and every 2nd or 3rd day thereafter. AS soon as I used this cream the pain in my bladdre was GONE completely. I use it every other day (half dose) If I use it at night it keeps me awake so I switched to the AM and it does stay in long enough to absorb internally and I was told VERY LITTLE goes into the bloodstream it just helps bathe the immediate area like the ovaries used to. I am NOT nearly as dry and itchy and irritated and I just use panty liners and even have tried the KY Jelly inserted vaginally from my estrace plunger every other day and that helps. The ovaries used to bathe the bladder, the vagina and all of that area with estrogen when they were intact, without the ovaries the Estrace or estrogen vaginal cream does wonders for that area. Give your doc a call and see what he or she says. Keep us posted honey!
