Setback

The hidascan only shows how your gallbladder functions. My gallbladder has been suspect for a while and I have had all the tests and it shows nothing. Prevacid has helped with the fullness and gas. They keep telling me its not my gall bladder but my right side under my ribs hurts from time to time. I guess if it is not functioning well thats why it is infected. They should be able to do a white blood cell count and that should tell you whether or not you have an infection or inflamation. I would try to have that done first before you have a 2000 dollar hidascan. Not trying to scare you but my stepfather had a lot of right side pain they did all kinds of tests then decided to do a liver biopsy. Well they wound up nicking his gall bladder cause it was diseased and gangrenous. Anyway he got it out. So all the testing did not show his gall bladder was infected. Good luck I hope you get the info you need.

irish88... Thanks for your post. I finally talked with both docs today and they suggest that I go ahead and have this done. I am going to have them schedule this sometime this week before surgery. However, no matter what it shows, I will have to wait and have the gallbladder removed later if it needs to be. Sooo, I am still on for Fri.
Janet...if you read this...I will let you know Wed. pm what time I have to be there on Fri. I am applying for Retro-Medicaid here in NC. But I have to wait until the end of Oct for it to cover all my bills in Sept. That is why the doc suggested me having this HIDAscan done this week. I will have it over with and it paid for by Oct. So if I do have to have surgery (gallbladder) at a later date, it will already be done.

They said getting the results and getting on the surgeons schedule to have it removed is going to take a while, and he doesn't want to cancel my Hyst. THANK GOD!!!
