Weight gain without HRT

My surgery is June 30 - total hysterectomy with removal of ovaries. I will not be able to take HRT. Will I experience weight gain or maybe weight loss? I am about 20 pounds overweight now and would love to lose some. Thanks for your input. I love this board and I love the Hystersisters book and nightshirt. They are terrific.

Remember that everyone is different as to weight loss and weight gain. Before I went on an HRT I lost quite a few pounds. I, though, have been on a diet for quite awhile now. From having read many posts that people here have made - they lose some weight because they don't feel like eating much during recovery.

I had a TAH/BSO (same as you) on 12/31/02. I took hrt for 4 months but have been off it for almost 2 months. My weight has stayed the same since stopping. Everybody is different though. Some ladies lose, some gain, and some stay the same.

Sorry can't be of more help but the weight thing is a crap shoot.

I will say one thing though in your favor, in all probability you will feel better after your recovery, therefore you may be more active and the weight may come off.

I lost 40 lbs after surgery but I worked at it.

What did you do to loose the 40 lbs!!! I'm on the Atkins diet and I was wondering if I could still be on it during recovery?

I would like to know how Joelle lost 40 pounds also. I really want to lose weight after the hysterectomy. Thanks for all your replys.
