Spotting at 2 1/2 weeks post-op

I'll be 3 weeks post-op this Friday. I started spotting yesterday, but I don't see any threads indicating that my stitches are dissolving. The blood is NOT bright red.

Does this sound normal? I'll call the doctor tomorrow just in case.

it's normal to spot-even if you don't see stitches-some or most will dissolve before they come out-or if they come out-i've been discharging off and on and my doc warned me of it so i'm not so freaked out-however if it is bright red like those peroid days, that's when you need to call your doc-that's not supposed to happen.

Sometimes it takes a few weeks for the spotting to begin. As your stitches heal, there's a scab that forms. As the scab and the stitches come out, the spotting begins. Once started, it may take the spotting a few weeks to resolve. Also, the spotting may stop, and then start again when another stitch comes loose. This is all normal. Unfortunately, most doctors don't bother to explain this to us prior to the event, and we end up very concerned. Don't ya hate that about doctors?

Hope you are feeling better soon!

My Dr said that it was normal to spot for up to 6 weeks. The problems would be bright red blood, or smelly discharge.
