Could my internal stitches be rejected by...

I am having a problem with my external incision. I have a TAH BSO on Deccember 3. I am finally starting to feel a little more better. On both ends of my external incision, I seem to be having what appears to be an infection but now I am wondering if it is my body rejecting the internal stitches and they are oozing out slowly. This is also causing additional pain where my ovaries used to be.

This might sound silly, but we saw the same thing happen with our dog last year after her surgery.

I cannot get in to see my gyn until next Tuesday. My husband and I are trying to keep the area clean and covered with dry gauze bandages.

Any iddeas or thoughts?

The sutures used on humans are different than those used on animals. Even though it is not impossible to be rejecting the sutures, it is more likely that you have something else going on.

Usually cloudy drainage, pink/red warmer areas are associated with infectious processes.............sometimes resulting in elevated body temperatures and foul odors if allowed to progress.

I had clear, straw-colored drainage.....and lots of it.....from my incision. It was not an infection, but a draining seroma.

It would be wise not to wait until your next scheduled appointment. Good surgeons want to know about such changes as soon as possible. If you don't get him "on call" this weekend, I would certainly call the office first thing Monday.....just to be on the safe side.
