2 weeks post hysterectomy - is this tiredness normal?
Hi, im 2 weeks this coming Tuesday post LSH op. Ovaries and cervix were kept. Pain wise I am managing, it gets better everyday and I am barely using pain killers. My worry is I am still so tired!!! I potter around the house most mornings but by noon I need to lie down. Some days I am just floored. My hb levels are fine and back to where they should be. Is this tiredness normal??? Should I worry that I am not back on my feet properly.
Reading some of these posts these ladies are back to work within 2 weeks!!! My consultant telling me it's all normal what I am going through but not convinced!!

Re: 2 weeks post hysterectomy - is this tiredness normal?
I am at day 9 and am tired all the time as well. I do have to go back to work after another week unfortunately, so I am napping anytime my body wants it. It seems that healing from a major surgery takes lots of energy.
There are definitely moments I have bursts of energy and feel "normal", but then my body sends me a reminder.
Just be patient with yourself and rest up. I'm doing the same. Best of luck in your recovery.

2 weeks post hysterectomy - is this tiredness normal?
Hello
You shold be tired ,it's normal. I had an LSH Late July and did not start having a little more energy until my third going into the 4th week. You should rest as much as possible. Take care of yourself, recovery is a process and please don't compare yourself to other people we are not all the same when it comes to our bodies..Take it easy, you had surgery.

Re: 2 weeks post hysterectomy - is this tiredness normal?
Fatigue is a common complaint post op. Your body is recovering from surgery plus reduced estrogen contributes greatly. The ovaries, if retained take time to get up to speed. I had fatigue for many weeks. It improved overall each week, however as activity increased I would get hit with bouts of fatigue again. Resume working-fatigue, Increased outings-fatigue. Over doing it-fatigue. Remember, your body is still healing & you are only at week 2. The 4, 6, 8 week recovery Drs tell us is basic functioning as the body is not fully healed. The body will really take months for full healing if not much longer.
Fatigue may also be due to hypothyroidism or anemia.
You'll get there

Re: 2 weeks post hysterectomy - is this tiredness normal?
I'm almost at week 3 and still exhausted. I can sleep 12 hours and then nap during the afternoon. I'm up to making dinner a couple times a week, still not driving and having a lot of cramps. I wouldn't worry about your tiredness, but do talk to your doctor to be sure. It seems to be normal from what I've read. Feel better soon!!

Re: 2 weeks post hysterectomy - is this tiredness normal?
I had LAVH on the 20th of Sept and have so much fatigue..I am trying to push through it thinking maybe it is just me being wimpy and the more time I spend resting the more tired I get..My husband keeps trying to tell me I just had surgery a few days ago..Like many of you ladies I am not one for sitting around.

Why do you go back to work so soon? My doctor will not examine me to return until 6 weeks?

2 weeks post hysterectomy - is this tiredness normal?
Not sure if it is an old wives tale, but several people have told me to expect a month for each hour under anesthesia to be back to normal. I had mine robotic, I was under around 4 hours. I think this has a lot to do with tiredness.

Re: 2 weeks post hysterectomy - is this tiredness normal?
I had laparoscopic hysterectomy on 9/8 and kept both ovaries - everything else came out - I saw my dr this week and I’m going back to work tomorrow. I’ve taken one 20 minute nap the entire time I’ve been home. This is not to say that I haven’t been tired, I just can’t nap so I figured I may as well go back to work. I plan on staying at the office until I get tired and then I’ll come home I only work five minutes from home so hopefully easing back into it day to day.

Re: 2 weeks post hysterectomy - is this tiredness normal?
It may be difficult for us to wrap our head around the idea that we had major surgery & with that, the body needs rest in order to recover. No matter if the surgery was laproscopic or TAH, an organ + was removed. The body will experience fatigue from surgery, also pre-existing conditions, the amount of work done during surgery, blood loss during surgery, medications, & stress on the body from surgery all affect us.. Hormones also contribute to fatigue as the ovaries - even if retained, may take time to function. Hormones, thyroid & anemia do contribute to fatigue too.
Many post op may experience insomnia too so the juggling act between fatigue & insomnia may persist. You should notice fatigue lessen after a few weeks. If hormones, anemia or thyroid are the cause, then fatigue may continue longer.. Talk to your Dr if fatigue is bothersome.
