Big O! experiences???
I am having my surgery in 1 month and I am concerned about the ability to have the Big O! afterwards. I am having the falopian tubes, uterus and cervix removed due to large fibroids and all the wonderful problems they can cause. The ovaries are staying put. I currently have no problems with achieving a very enjoyable Big O!, however intercourse can be a little uncomfortable at times.
My doctor stated that some women that have the cervix removed can have problems with acheiving orgasms, but not all do. He wants to remove the cervix due to family history and the fact that I could still experience bleeding if the cervix is not removed. I know that I will no longer experience uterine contractions but what about the rest?
Please tell me your experiences.
Thanks,
Darlene

Big O! experiences???
Your doctor is covering himself for malpractice by telling you this. There are women who report dissatisfaction after the cervix is removed but studies show the same % of women who have never had surgery report the same thing.
My experience with having the cervix is that O is as good or better. Your sex life will definately improve without the large fibroids, I can tell you!
Your doc is giving you good advice, and I would do as he recommends.
Best wishes!

The Big "O my God!"
To be honest, sex is a very big part of my married life. I really worried about not being able to have the big O or worse not wanting to have sex at all. I had a TAH/BSO 12-1-03, dr took cervix. I have not officially been released for intercourse but there are other ways. You know what I mean. I am proud to say that the remaining equipment still works. LOL And some of the big O's have been "Oh my God". LOL Good luck on your surgery and recovery. It was one of the best things I have ever done for myself. Penny

Big O! experiences???
I had a tah/bso on 11/26 (had over 100 fibroids) and also had my cervix removed. For the six months before my surgery, I had no desire for sex, chronic bleeding and pain and was concerned that this would continue after the surgery. Happily, this has not been the case, desire has returned and was told last week it was OK for intercourse, I'm delighted to find that everything is working just fine.

Big O! experiences???
Th big "O" is first and foremost the clitoris, so there should be no problems there.
There are contractions in the cervix and uterus as well, and some women who like that feeling notice when they are missing.
I wanted to keep my cervix. I miss the uterine contractions, but not my uterus. Everything else works a-okay, and I can have sex any day of the month now, so no complaints here.

the big O is just fine
I had a TAH on 12/11 for multiple fibroids. Have had several big Os, with a pillow on my belly, since then (beginning about 2 weeks after surgery). No intercourse, but smiling a bunch. I don't miss the cervix at at all, it hasn't effected anything. I am really looking forward to intercourse without fibroids.
Don't worry, you'll do great!

Big O! experiences???
First of all, I wanna say to TIJUNKIE that you are absolutely correct in what you're saying about the big "O" being all in the clitoris....so true, so true! As long as it's intact, life is great
My fibroids were so big and I had soooo much blood loss, I was anemic and had no quality of life. After my surgery (kept both ovaries), my O's have been nothing short of marvelous. It seems like they last longer. Something is still contracting....maybe it's my vagina. I don't know what it is, but the feeling is GREAT, if not BETTER than before.
Ahhhhhh, life is wonderful !!!

Big O! experiences???
I am 33 and had TAH/BSO..everything out! Three months ago. LIFE is wonderful...including my sex life!!!! The surgery was the best thing I ever did for my sex life and life in general!!! I am SO much MORE energetic and happy and ENJOY sex...with MULTIPLE O's!!!!!!! I was also concerned pre-op about this, but much to my relief, it has not been a problem! We experimented at 3 1/2 weeks with Outercourse and I was PLEASANTLY suprised to find that I got there SO fast and much more intense!!! Then, at 6 1/2 weeks we were given the green light for more and it was wonderful!!!!!! My sex drive has increased and we are happy to report that all is in wonderful working order....and we are much more intimate than we have been in years!!!!!
Good luck with your surgery and recovery and life after!!!

Big O! experiences???
I am 39 and had TVH on 10/22/03. So that puts me at 12 weeks post op as of yesterday. Had my first 3-month checkup yesterday and doc said I look like I'm healing very well (she even said out loud "I did a really good job!" while inspecting her handiwork ... internally that is).
Anyway, on the subject of sex, everything is a-okay. Prior to my surgery, there were certain positions, shall we say, that could be a bit painful. I was told previously that I had a tilted uterus and that could be the reason for some discomfort at times. But I would adjust accordingly if things got uncomfortable. The reason I mention this is that I no longer have that problem! Obviously because I no longer have a cervix. I am happy to say that my sex life is just fine. We are still taking it easy, since I have a sensitive area in there still (also confirmed by the doctor), but she had no concerns about continuing with a normal sex life.
In fact, both my gyn and my onc have both mentioned the fact that it is actually good to keep up a normal sex life so the vagina remains in good shape. (Wondering if hubby paid them to say that!)
