Feeling Sorry for Myself

I am new to this website since yesterday, and thankful it's here.

My hysterectomy operation is scheduled the day before my 40th birthday (my luck). I am having this operation due to Hydrosalpinx (swollen blocked fallopian tubes). Apparantly, when I was younger I contracted chlamydia from my
boyfriend and an undetected infection occured. This has also caused infertility so I do not have any children (a lifetime bummer).

My gyn said that chlamydia is called the silent disease because it usually goes undetected and once you get it (especialllyl in your early 20's) your basically doomed. Protected sex doesn't even stop it because it can also be passed by saliva! This was a complete shock to me, it occurred in the 80's when doctors knew relatively very little about chlamydia and the damage it causes. It also didn't help that I always used protection.

This disease has caused tremendous scarring adhesions and very painful periods with heavy bleeding, and I also get major irritable bowel syndrome attacks for about 10 years now.

I look forward to putting this ordeal behind me on January 28th when I have my operation.

Welcome!

I can relate to the irritable bowel syndrome. It is amazing how things are all "connected" inside us. One thing affects the other.

It sounds as if you are ready for this operation. Going in with a postitive attitude really helps. Although it may not seem like it now, this can actually be a great birthday present-- the beginning of the END of your suffering.

Good luck on your trip to the castle, and keep us posted.

Take care.

Welcome!

Yes me too for the IBS, I still have it occassionally but nothing like I did before my hyst. I usually eat something that causes it now before it was all those female things inside. I love the new me. I had been in so much pain over the years it was such a relief to finally get it over with. I had a neice that had chlamydia in the 80's she caught from her boyfriend. She has two wonderful babies, but at the time she had it she took two or three rounds of antibotics, and got rid of the boyfriend . She had trouble with the first one and her ob said it could have been related because she had some scarring. I am not sure how bad. I am so sorry about the fact that something that was beyond your control left without children. I was fortunate enough to have one DS that is all I could have and it took 8 months of bed rest to get him here. You will be so much better when you become that new you. God Bless and just wait for it. Oh and in case I forget the big day.

Feeling Sorry for Myself

Welcome to Hystersisters
You have found a wonderful place.
I have IBS too, it is no fun, but I have learned to live with it.
I also caught chlamydia in the 80's from an old boyfriend, I was fortunate enough to have caught it in time. They gave me antibiotics and it cleared up. I am so sorry to hear that they didn't catch yours and it has caused so much damage.
I am glad to hear that you are ready for your surgery, your wait is almost over.
Take Care &

FEELING SORRY FOR MYSELF

Hi,

I am also new to this site, I was so grateful to read your messge and I hope everything went brilliantly for you, my problems are so similar to you, IBS, infection that has totally shot the left tube and gone into the womb, accompanied by the odd fibroid or two on the right hand side, just to balance things up abit...all in all a right old mess.....my specialist referred me for a second opinion last wednesday, I was hoping they were going to opt for more drugs but its the full one in a few weeks. Like you I have no children and have only been married 16 months, I also thought that life wasnt fair...however, through speaking to different people I have realised that your health is so much more important, and the relationship between you and your partner/husband-my husband is being so supportive, but please dont think its not been an emotional roller coaster, I read your messge and felt immediately I could relate to what you said, it was almost like a mirror image, I wish you well and hope for a quick and full recovery....I will let you know when my date is, I should know by this time next week, I m just looking forward to getting through this, coming home and spending time with my hubby and cat

lots of love and best wishes from the UK

Thanks!

Thanks, it really helps to know others out there have similar problems, and I am not the ONLY person on the face of the earth with these types of problems. So far, this website has really helped me out, and how committed everyone is to supporting others, thanks!
