9 days post hysterectomy: Abdominal Rectum Pain and Sore Throat

My TAH was on February 25. Just under two weeks post-op, I've been experiencing horrible lower abdominal pain which continues through my rectum. The pain lasts for a few seconds, but oh my goodness, it HURTS!! My stomach tightens up into a hard, tight ball, like pregnancy contractions. My throat is like nothing I've experienced before. Throat is dry, difficult to swallow. Feels like I have some type of lump way down deep, where my throat meets my collar bone. How much longer for full recovery?

Sorry you are having the pains. I had a couple of instances of cramps pain that turned out to be intestinal, with loose stool. I felt better after but quit the stool softener.Also had a sore throat a couple of days after I think from the breathing tube they put in for surgery. Then I got thrush! I recommend calling the Dr. If they keep up... can't hurt.

Dear Puppy ... Thanks so much for taking the time to share your experience on my behalf. Follow up appointment with my doctor is on Wednesday. Cramping seems to be at its worse when I'm trying to sleep. Doctor's office nurse thinks I may have been experiencing gas pains coupled with constipation. So, I've been getting relief from stool softener. I think I will ease up on those now. With respect to my throat, an occasional milk shake is soothing. So very sorry about your throat problem post-op. Hope you're feeling well at this stage in your recovery ... Kim
